Poppy

Papaver rhoeas

Poppy is an annual summer flower belonging to the poppy family. The poppy plant has a tall, stiff stem with large leaves. As the plant does not spread, it has difficulties to compete with fast growing weed plants. Poppy blossoms with red, pink and white flowers. Poppy grows 60-100 cm tall and has foreign pollination (insects). The seeds are very small, brownish and have the same shape as blue poppy (birch), although slightly smaller (0.5-1.0 mm). The crop blooms approx. mid July, some heads blossom quickly but new ones come to. The flowering can extend for a long time.
